The National Media Council (NMC) organised a visit to ICAD Residential City in Abu Dhabi to mark International Workers' Day on May 1, where the Council distributed 1,000 bags to workers containing shirts and caps to protect them against the sun.
The visit complements the Council's "Walk to Give" initiative, launched on March 17, 2017, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Etisalat, and Etihad Airways, in order to highlight the role of the media sector in supporting national initiatives.
Meeting and engaging with workers on International Workers' Day is part of the NMC's the "Year of Giving" initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. These activities are in line with the National Media Council's strategic objectives as it works to highlight the role of the media sector in supporting philanthropy and charity work, a characteristic of the UAE as a country.
The National Media Council had organised the "Walk to Give" march, which went from Zayed Sports City to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, to underline the essential role that the media plays in supporting and promoting national initiatives The march drew media professionals from various organisations across the UAE.
