A high-profile delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain's Ministry of Information Affairs visited the National Media Council's (NMC) headquarters in Abu Dhabi today.
The delegation, headed by the Bahraini Ministry's Information Affairs Undersecretary His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Bahr, was greeted by NMC Director General H.E. Mansour Al Mansouri. The visit reflects the strong bonds between the two Gulf states and brings together influential media-sector decision makers from both countries to explore opportunities to cooperate and exchange ideas and insight, working to empower the media industry, remain on top of emerging trends and study the media's potential to raise awareness in society and encourage people to participate in sustainable development.
H.E. Al Mansouri highlighted to his Bahraini counterpart how the NMC offers its support to all media institutions and government bodies in the UAE, and works to reflect the Emirates experiences around the world. The visiting delegation was also briefed about the National Media Council's role in developing a national strategy to promote the media sector in the UAE, reflecting the best possible image of the country and maintain its distinguished status.
"The visit to the National Media Council aligns with our strategic objective to explore all the latest media-related innovations and best practices – namely, those being implemented in the UAE, a fellow Gulf country," said Mohammed Abdul Rahman Bahr. "We are confident that this visit will further strengthen Emirati-Bahraini ties in the media sector, which is ideally poised to wield great positive impact on our communities."
The delegation paid a visit to the Emirates New Agency (WAM), where they were introduced to the latest media practices and technologies the agency is implementing, including Smart Reporter, which allows reporters to send news articles and have them immediately published locally and internationally. Another such application is Live WAM, an interactive service that allows audiences around the world to access the latest updates in real time. The visit was then concluded by a stop at Al Ittihad newspaper and Sky News Arabia TV channel.
