His Excellency Jaber Saeed Al Lamki held the position of the Executive Director of Media and Strategic Communications at the UAE’s National Media Council (NMC), before taking over as Acting Director General on January 27, 2020. He is currently responsible for running the organization, which serves as the UAE’s federal media regulatory body as well as the principal authority for the country’s international reputation management.
Within his previous capacity as the Executive Director of Media and Strategic Communications, H.E. was responsible for developing and executing the NMC’s strategic media and communications policies locally, regionally and internationally. The role involved running programmes to manage the UAE’s reputation, in addition to coordinating and managing media and communications outreach in cooperation with local and international partners and stakeholders.
HE Al Lamki had led the UAE’s communication efforts during the visit of UAE leaders to various countries around the world. Likewise, he also headed the communication efforts during the visits of various heads of states from around the world to the UAE. Notable among them was the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the UAE in February 2019, during which around 700 media persons from around the globe descended on Abu Dhabi. He has also served as the UAE’s official spokesperson on several occasions, explaining the country’s positions to international media on a host of important issues.
H.E. Al Lamki has had a diverse career. Prior to joining the NMC in 2016, he served as Acting Director of Customer Service & Corporate Communication at the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) from 2010 to 2015, where he was the Authority’s official spokesperson, appearing weekly on Al Bath Al Mubashir radio show to share health-sector updates and receive comments and complaints from listeners. H.E. also worked as a Corporate Communication Manager at Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) from 2007 to 2010. He managed the launch of EMAL brand’s strategic communication at initial phase until the 1st hot metal production of the smelter. He also held several positions in ADNOC Group’s ADAC of Etisalat.
In the private sector, H.E. Al Lamki established and ran the first bilingual (Arabic and English) specialised medical magazine. He also set up his own agency, Beyond Media Consulting & Services, providing media consultancy for various corporations and brands, which allowed him to gain in-depth practical and strategic expertise in corporate branding and develop his media relations network.
H.E. Jaber Al Lamki holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration – Information Technology from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) - Abu Dhabi, earned in 2005, as well as a Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering from HCT - Al Ain in 2000.
